Tabakoire (tobacco pouch)

The finely embroidered pouch is combined with a kiseruzutsu (Japanese pipe case) made of gilt leather. The most attractive objects of this pouch are netsuke (miniature carving attached to the end of a cord) and the fitting metal of the pouch. Netsuke was made by a famous craftsman Shojotemmin, and his two apprentices engraved both sides of the fitting metal (cf. the picture below). The gold fitting metal is in the shape of "Fujin", a Japanese god of the wind. He is pasting the paper on the Japanese fan to create the wind.
