Most of the haenyeos suffer from various diseases such as earaches due to the water pressure, lung diseases due to lack of oxygen with the accumulation of nitrogen as well as migraines and motion sickness. They also commonly suffer from knee arthritis and submarine sickness. That is why a lot of the haenyeos depend on headache pills before they dive into the water.
