The tapestries show superb technical virtuosity and are made of high quality material: threads of silk and wool painted with natural dyes. This bestows splendour and chromatic intensity. The detailed account of events follows a chronological, lineal order. The first, “landing in Asilah”, describes in its upper billet how on the night of August 20th, 1471 an army of 30000 men landed in the coast of Asilah having set off from Portugal on August 15th, 1471 towards the north of Africa.
