 黒みを帯びた鼠色のなかに、寂がかった赤味が幾筋か現れており、これを夕焼け雲に見立てたものであろうか。小堀権十郎の命銘によると伝える。
 片側に檜垣文を、もう一方に籬文をつけ、大きく雄渾な口造りと大らかなうねりに、いかにも桃山陶らしさを感じさせている。
 昭和15年(1940)鴻池家の入札の際に野村得庵が入手した。
