Women weave beautiful fabrics for themselves in every household with backstrap looms. Traditionally, the women wear the gale (a wrap-around skirt). Their ceremonial dress is traditionally white with designs in black threads. The women also cover their heads with a white cloth as part of the attire. They adorn themselves with different types of stone and bead necklaces.

  • About the craft: The Galo tribe primarily inhabitat West Siang, Lepa Rada, and Lower Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh. They belong to the Tani group of peoples who believe that they descended from Abo Tani, who is their great ancestor. The Galos are experts in weaving and bamboo craft.
