Bangkok, Thailand

Bodice of Thai silk and embroidered metal-thread net; attached skirt of embroidered silk and metal-thread brocade (phaa yok).
The handmade gold net covering the bodice is a traditional sign of court rank. The addition of a shoulder cloth makes the dress suitable for ceremonial occasions. This dress was worn when Their Majesties presided over a religious ceremony on His Majesty the King's Birthday Anniversary at the chapel Royal in the Amarindra Vinichaya Throne Hall, Grand Palace, 5 December 1989.
