Once again, the US Competition was fortunate to receive the commitment of an outstanding jury. All members generously gave of their time and inspired the contestants. Photographed onstage at the Awards Ceremony are (L to R) Grant Johannesen (chairman), a concert artist of the highest order and President of the Cleveland Institute of Music; Ian Hobson, winner of the 1981 Leeds Competition and laureate of the 1st US Chopin Competition in 1975; Ivan Davis, artist-in-residence at the University of Miami and student of Vladimir Horowitz; Lady Blanka Rosenstiel (Competition Founder and President); Susan Starr, distinguished concert artist and faculty member at the Curtis Institute; Gersende de Sabran, Duchess of Orleans and renowned pianist; Ruth Slenczynska, pianist, recording artist and sought after adjudicator with a 60+ year career; Agustin Anievas, acclaimed concert and recording artist; Constance Keene, the only woman pianist ever asked to substitute for Vladimir Horowitz and faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music; Janusz Olejniczak, prominent Polish pianist and prizewinner of the 1970 International Chopin Piano Competition.
