The Artist’s Mother

The sculpture was created less than a year after the artist graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. At that time, Dunikowski’s mother had been already dead for ten years. The female face with her sharp features, devoid of any classical beauty, is shown in a very realistic way. In using the simplest means of expression, the artist was able to illustrate the universal truth about the burden of human existence.
