The Astrolabe of Ahmad Ibn Muhammad al-Naqqash

Astrolabes are multifunctional astronomical instruments that may be used for observation, timekeeping, calculation, and prognostication, but also for presentation, decoration, amusement, education, and entertainment. This astrolabe was produced in Islamic Spain and modified in Christian Italy. It stands for the spread of a scientific innovation with many areas of application: from measurement-based astronomy through to interpretation-based astrology.
