The Barberini Tyche, her features characterise her as a goddess, although the sculpture is also a portrait, most likely a woman of high status, and her crown of three arched towers also define her also as a personification of a city, possibly Rome. The 1st century Roman head is inserted into a 17th century bust of Egyptian alabaster and Italian porta santa marble with a stand of bianco e nero marble.
