Although not specifically, it belongs to or is linked to the set of reliefs that Gargallo made on the capital virtues and sins upon returning from his first trip to Paris. Most of these reliefs are not located, and most likely no longer exist (according to Amadeo Gargallo, who preserved this one, all the others were destroyed), although photographs of four of them are preserved, namely Humildes, Soberbios, Lujuriosos and Castedat.
This work, along with the aforementioned reliefs on virtues and sins, was presented by Pablo in his first individual exhibition, which under the title Estudis d¿extremis oposats took place in the Parés salon in Barcelona in the months of February-March 1906.
