The Bell Tower

Ramón Silva’s skill as a great colorist is manifested in The Bell Tower. The bell tower rises up practically in the center of the composition, framed by the trunks and foliage of the trees in the foreground. Their colorful shadows contrast with the light background, where the sky’s luminosity fuses forms with its intensity. The bell tower emerges from the light, barely insinuated with just a few brushstrokes.
The artist creates two situations in opposition: the area in shadow where the viewer is situated, and the light, illuminated zone where the bell tower is located.
Color applied in vibrant, delicately disregarded brushstrokes depicts the forms through contrasts in color and tonality. It is exalted and it becomes to be transformed into a vehicle of emotions. The very light generated in the work is produced by this color, loaded with lyricism.
