Teddy bear dressed in green uniform with German Cross (kreuz) and insignia for the Berlin Candy Bomber (Gail S. Halvorsen), created by Jeannie Andersen of Utah. She was one of Gail Halvorsen's care-givers. She created the bear with the "Build-a-Bear" company in Provo, Utah, and attended to every detail of Gail Halvorsen's favorite uniform attire. This uniform is modeled after the one Halvorsen wore when he first met the children at the fence. He is wearing the Bundesverdienstkreuz, his favorite medal given to him by the President of Germany for his service to the German people 1970-1974 as USAF commander of Tempelhof Airbase. Gail Halvorsen loved teddy bears, as they reminded him of a young girl giving him her precious Teddy when he was a pilot during the Berlin Airlift. It was her last treasure and she wanted to present it to an airlift pilot to help keep him safe.
