The Bermuda Group (Dean Berkeley and His Entourage)

This portrait depicts the Bermuda Group who, under the leadership of Dean (later Bishop) George Berkeley (far right) are about to set sail to America with the hope of founding a college and seminary in Bermuda. The plan ultimately failed after the English parliament declined to release the promised funds.
