The stones of the brooch are cut as cabochons, forming convex domes with flat undersides. They are also set in gold, in exactly the same way as the stones in the bracelet. It is likely that the à jour setting was used here to save money on the cost of the gold.

The brooch was made in 1871 – eight years after the bracelet – by the Gustaf Möllenborg jewellers.
