The Castle Rotterdam in Makassar, on South Sulawesi

This watercolor is part of a series by Ver Huell from a voyage to the Dutch East Indies. This watercolor shows the castle Rotterdam in Makassar on South Sulawesi. Karaeng Lembang Parang, the prince of Goa, is brought to the naval ship 'Admiral Evertzen' in the state sloop. This Dutch ship of the line has been lavishly paved. On the right is an indigenous sailing ship. Dimensions of the painting (wxh) are: 55,2 x 38,6 cm.
