This painting is an example of the very few detailed representations of a church building dated from the second half of the 19th century. The artist depicted one of the two main churches in the city. There is a clear image of the famous Romanesque portal (transferred in 1546 from the demolished church of Ołbin), epitaphs on the façade and the two towers with their now non-existent early Baroque domes, linked by the characteristic bridge. On the left-hand side, Woelfl showed, among others, the building housing the oldest school in the city, rebuilt shortly afterwards. In the background one can see the church square lined with houses built for acolytes (altarists), which were pulled down after 1866. The presented view constitutes a particular ‘painted chronicle’ of the town.
