The De La Warr Pavilion was built in 1936 to designs by architects Eric Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff, and the engineer Felix Samuely. The mobile bandstand was designed by Niall McLoughlin and is constructed using prefabricated stressed ply and fibreglass. It won a RIBA Regional Award in 2002.
