The dormition of Our Lady (Uspenie)

The Virgin is lying on a richly ornamented bed and the composition is located within a half-open, domestic and highly decorated architectural space and surrounded by the apostles. In the center the archangel Michael, other angels, and the figure of Christ is holding His hand towards His mother. Other scenes on the background include the archangel Michael announcing to the Virgin her approaching death, the Coronation of the Virgin by God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
