Located in the Plates Gallery, this cabinet commemorates the marriage of the Duke of Orléans, son of Louis-Philippe, with Duchess Helen of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. It was created in 1837-1838 at the Sèvres Manufactury and combines wood, gilt bronze, bisque porcelain figures, and porcelain panels painted by Jean-Charles Develly in a schema reminiscent of Renaissance furniture. The painted scenes depict different stages of the wedding ceremony (the civil wedding in the Ballroom, the catholic ceremony in the Trinity Chapel, the Lutheran service in the Hall of Columns…).
