The present-day picture of Mangkhalaphisek Pavilion. Built as a pair to Ekalongkot Pavilion in the Center Court of the former Front Palace in Bangkok, Mangkhalaphisek Pavilion still exists in present-day Bangkok .During the reigns of First King Mongkut and Second King Pinklao, First King Mongkut redesigned the Front Palace in order to celebrate the newly elevated status of its inhabitant: Second King Pinklao.
