The environmentally friendly diaper Nature Babycare

Marlen Sandberg had her second child in 1992. She had read about Swedish babies leaving a ton of waste diapers every year. Marlen looked for environmentally friendly diapers in stores, but found none.

Marlen worked with different partners to develop a diaper with absorbent material made from environmentally friendly wood pulp, covered with a thin film made from maize starch.

But Marlen's first attempt to sell the diaper in Sweden was a complete failure. A test that was later proved to be wrong showed that the diapers leaked. The board told her to cancel the project, but Marlen didn't give up.

She went to England and the diaper became a success there. Now her company Naty sells several baby-care products in several countries, including Sweden.
