The first Lithuanian photo from outer space and its single pixel

The photo was made by the satellite “LituanicaSAT-1” on 8 April 2014 at 5.34 p.m. Initiators of the successful mission were Vytenis Buzas and Laurynas Mačiulis (NPO “Innovative Engineering Projects”). Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Klaipėda State College, around 20 Lithuanian enterprises and 40 persons were partners of the mission. The President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė was the patron of the mission. Her pre-recorded speech “Greetings to all Lithuanians all around the world” was transmitted from space around 1,000 times to all regions of the world.
