From left to right: James Aitken, Lim Boon Keng, C. S. Angus, Percival Locke, Dunstan Aeria, Song Ong Siang. The group remained close. Aitken and Song formed a law firm together in Singapore. Dr Percival Locke from Penang helped edit the Straits Chinese Magazine. The scholars reflected the multicultural make-up of the Straits Settlements elite. Dunstan Aeria was a Eurasian from Penang.
