The Gate of dawn Mother of Mercy

The Gate of Dawn Mother of Mercy is an iconographic image of The Gate of Dawn Mother of Mercy. It is thought that the painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary was painted for the Gate of Dawn in Vilnius between 1620 and 1630. The painting became known for its miracles from the second half of the seventeenth century; it helped the city of Vilnius through fires and the attacks of foreign invaders. In 1927, the painting was crowned with crowns blessed by the Pope. This is one of the few paintings of Mary without the Infant Jesus. The painting is venerated by all believers in Lithuania and the Mother of Mercy is considered to be the patroness of Lithuania and the one who maintains concord.

A bas-relief based on this painting has been created. The head of the Mother of God is leaning towards her right shoulder, her face is presented in a realistic manner, and her eyes look downwards. Her hands are crossed on her chest, her fingers are long and thin. She wears a crown; a robe with plant ornaments covers her shoulders, and a five-line necklace and a chain with a cross within a circle adorn her neck.
