At Kaminari-mon (literally,Thunder Gate,) in Asakusa, the god of thunder is selling goodies because the shrine cannot receive enough money offerings due to the recession. "Benten," the goddess of music, eloquence, wealth, and wisdom is selling popped beans, and the god of wind is selling pinwheels. This is a caricature describing the dull business situation before the Meiji Restoration (1868.)
