The Grotto at Ascot Place was built in circa 150 by the masons Robert Turnbull & Scott for Daniel Agace. It comprises a main chamber lit by an octagonal lantern, passages and other, smaller chambers. The walls are decorated with white quartz crystals and artificial stalactites descend from the roof.
