"Our improvements consist of applying metal fasteners to baskets, boxes, and other items made from wickerwork in order to hold handles and grips that serve as joints and hinges. We reinforce the weak parts of these baskets using braided trims, bands, or cords made of the same material as the body of the basket or of a different material, held or fixed in place with our fasteners which can be made of any suitable metal: copper, tin plate, white metal, painted, varnished, gilded, or silver plated, etc. We also apply our fastenings to any items encased in wickerwork—flasks for hunting, travel, and so on—as well as demiohns."
