Llamo is the only female goddess and one of the fiercest among the Eight Protectors of the Law. She is also the special protectress of the Dalai and Panchen Lamas. In this image she is riding on her mule across a sea of blood, accompanied by her two attendants, the lion-headed and makara-headed dakinis. Lhamo sits on the flayed skin of her son, a non-believer. Attached to the trappings of the mule are her various emblems; a book, a ball of magic thread, a skin bag of diseases, and a pair of dice for divination.
