American painters took the image of the allegory of Ameria of Cesare Ripa, they dressed her to remove her nudity that was associated to the savage and highlighted her indigenous eyes and skin. They changed her appearance and skin color to one of a creole in order to show the blending between spanish and indigenous people. This was a way to legitimate the american rights over this territory.
