Heinrich Tüpke was a talented landscape painter from Wrocław. In this city, he also received his artistic education. He was affiliated with many artistic organizations, some of them he was a co-founder. Together with his friends, painters Otto Fischer and Alfred Nickisch, he went to winter plein-airs in the Karkonosze Mountains, which took place in very dangerous conditions. These trips strongly influenced the artist's work. It was thanks to them that Tüpke abandoned academic painting in favor of landscapes painted by nature in the impressionist style. The presented painting probably comes from one of such trips and represents the painter's later style.
