Pears were a fruit that Eileen enjoyed painting. Mostly she did still lifes, such as pears on a table. She thought the pear was an intriguing shape, and not only that, sexy, as if seeing the image from the rear. Here she elevates the pear almost to icon status, a perfect image. The she repeats the shape in flowing silhouettes, moving in and out, and sprinkles the watercolor paper with what appear to be droplets of paint, picking up the colors of the silhouettes. "I don't know what inspired it, " Eileen said. "I just started painting a pear."
