The Philosophy

Although there are no documents related to the commision of these doors carved, the description of Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger and of Baldinucci allow to determine that they were carried out by Beledetto Calenzuoli to a design by Pietro da Cortona. In that door we find represented the Philosophy: a female figure with a great crown on her head, busy reading a book and beside her a male figure writes his thoughts on a scroll.
