Unlike other homes of the period, the L.P. Grant Mansion's nine fireplaces were located in the corners of each room. Large windows provided natural light in the house throughout the day. Restoration of the Grant Mansion included restoring and preserving the original brick and mortal walls, plaster, heart pine window sills and casings, and rehabilitating the historic windows. Grant was an engineer, from the north, and placed the fireplaces in the corners of each room for warmth and structural support.
