Trento, Italy

The prehistoric artists were inspired by their natural surroundings. This stone is one out of the 267 of the Dalmeri rock shelter, on the Marcesina Plain (Trentino, Italy). Painted with dust of hematite, they represent the richest outfit of depicted stones ever discovered in an European prehistoric site so far. They are a clue on lifestyle, art, and rituality of the men who lived among the alpine valleys 13.000 years ago.
