At the centre of the second floor of the boxes, the Royal Box has 27 seats and a private foyer called Royal Sitting Room. The precious ceiling with flower decorations is above a room totally covered by mahogany wood and furnished with sofas and armchairs of red brocade. A Murano glass chandelier and nine mirrors enrich the room. On the entrance doors and on the capital of each column you can see the royal coat-of-arms, a white cross on a red field. Art nouveau architect Ernesto Basile is credited with the design of the Royal Box.
