Navin Rawanchaikul was born in Chiangmai, Thailand. He brought innovation to Thai contemporary art with art projects involving different communities of people and connecting art with society. He is one of the most acclaimed contemporary Asian artists. In this early work, photographs showing hands tied up and foot shackled are placed on the book-shaped metal plates, suggesting individuals bound by knowledge, law and custom. The nameless hands and foot quietly make accusations to the unknown oppressors.
