Castle Bromwich Hall was originally built for the Devereux family and was bought, with its estate, by Sir Orlando Bridgeman 1st Baronet (d.1674) for his eldest son, the eventual Sir John Bridgeman 2nd Baronet. Sir John altered the house internally and added the elaborate porch, works which were designed by William Winde. The house remained the Bridgeman's main seat until they inherited Weston Park in 1762, whereafter Castle Bromwich was occupied by junior family members and let out until it was eventually sold in 1969.
