The sundial, "sun clock", was designed and sculpted in 1628 by Francesco Borromini and has four concave faces. It is a "mathematical ornament" that allows you to follow the course of the sun throughout the day. Originally the four gnomons (styles, temples) that cast the shadow on the faces of the sundial were made up of three bronze bees, the heraldic symbol of Urban VIII, and a sun also in bronze.
