The leaves have completely disappeared and the landscape announces the approach of winter. The clear contours of the young trees in the foreground indicate the artist Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck's aptitude for drawing and the tendency towards decorativeness. The composition seems to continue beyond the paper, thus foreshadowing his later murals.
