The 75-seat movie theater in Vanport City was open seven days per week. Vanport was a temporary housing project between VANcouver, Washington, and PORTland, Oregon. It was built in 1942 to house shipyard workers, and it became the second largest city of Oregon.
Today only a few signposts and a slab of concrete from Vanport’s movie theater are the only physical reminders of the “Miracle City.”
