Trumpeter of the 5th Regiment of Dragoons on foot, holding the bridle of his gray horse. In the background, to the right, we can see a fleet of dragoons who have also dismounted their horses and are at ease. To the left, an infantry officer on foot, is talking with a dragoon lieutenant who is on horseback. Further away, you can see two German officers, who may either be envoys or simply spectators of an inspection. The act is dated to after the Franco-Prussian war of 1870–1871.
