The visitation of the Virgin

One of the few religious works by Fragonard, this is certainly a sketch from a painting commissioned by the marquis of Gramont, a piece that is lost today, that Fragonard painted circa 1766. (Grammont sale in 1774, Randon de Boisset's sale in 1777, then the Count of Lambert in 1781, and then Calonne of London in 1795)
