The White Cottage was built in 1906 to designs by Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. Whereas much garden city and garden suburb houses were in the Arts and Crafts, Queen Anne and neo-Georgian styles, this thatched house is in the mode of a rustic cottage ornée.
