One of the most prolific artists to have emerged in contemporary Indian art has been Subodh Gupta. The concerns that he portrays in his art are rooted in his origins from small town Bihar and move to an urban setup. Several motifs and symbols such as a bucket resurface in his work.
‘Three Cows’ is a work laced with irony, a common sight in a big town and city, a bicycle laden with milk cans has been hauled around the city in contrast to milk being directly milked from a cow in villages.
