The world famous Mikhail Baryshnikov will kick off the Holland Festival 2009, together with star dancer Ana Laguna. The two dancers will perform their programme of solos and a duet in only a few cities in 2009, and Amsterdam is delighted to be one of them. Mikhail Baryshnikov and Ana Laguna will dance Place, which Mats Ek created especially for them. In Place, two people meet each other, which brings back many memories. Mats Ek also conceived Solo for Two, originally made for the Cullberg Ballet. Finally, Baryshnikov will perform a new solo by Alexei Ratmansky (former artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet and now artist in residence at the American Ballet Theatre) and a new solo by Benjamin Millepied (first soloist at the New York City Ballet).
