The Virgin, seated in the front on a gothic marble throne with sides shaped as tympanums, is dressed with coeval robes, with a veil leaning on her shoulders and the halo behind her head. The child in left profile is seated on the left forearm of the mother, the feet on her womb and the right arm around the neck of the Virgin, staring at the observer. The painting already attribuited to Tommaso Barasini, said Tommaso from Modena (1325-1359) originally decorating the facade of the Sain Michael church, from which in 1533, has been transferred in the new church built on it, collocated in a small room beside it. It was restored in 1970 and transferred to the Sanctuary of the Great Mother of God (former Gesuiti) to which it was transferred the title of Saint Michael in 1950.
