Museum of Folk Musical Instruments in Szydlowiec
Szydlowiec, Poland

They appeared in the Polish musical tradition at the beginning of the 19th century. The instruments were manufactured in factories, so they were much cheaper than those made by folk artists. That's why, the mazanki from Wielkopolska region was no in use anymore by the folk artists. Musicians from there tied the neck of the instrument with the strings in one-third of the length to make a higher key and adapt the new instrument to their traditions and make it look like mazanki.
