This Tiger skin rug was purchased by the original owner of Glenmont, Henry Pedder. Edison's purchase of the house included much of the furniture from the previous owner. Edison, although not a hunter himself, kept this rug, and others throughout the house, because they were quite popular and fashionable in the late Victorian era.
