Delicious salty Gallipoli fish… The can is wonderful with its unique design and colors. This is one of our favorite cans in our collection. No doubt that the salty sardines in the can tasted wonderful.

Sophia Loren says, “Many people think twice before eating sardine because it is cheap and plentiful. I’m not one of those people. That will be their loss.” She says that about sardine in her book In Cucina Con Amore (“Kitchen of Love”) but we don't know if she ever tasted Gallipoli Canned Sardines. Gallipoli sardine has a well deserved reputation. Those who taste it say they can't get enough of it.

Tin can of Gallipoli Sardine is one of the rare items that have survived to this day. We keep it in our culinary culture collection with great caution; it is getting harder and harder to find these kinds of items nowadays, and when we find one, it is usually not in a very good condition.
